New hats can show that you're (upside) down with the Lakers and Heat

Do not adjust your computer. This is not Photoshopped.

Just when you thought they couldn't come up with any new designs or trends for team caps, the folks at Hall of Fame have teamed up with the people at Mitchell and Ness to bring you the Upside Down Snapback caps.

For the low, low price of $40 (yes, that's American dollars), you can own a hat that looks like it should have been a factory reject. Amuse your friends, confuse your parents and have hours of fun taking pictures while standing on your head!

But what if you're not a Lakers fan? Well, then they've got you covered with your very own Upside Down Miami Heat Snapback cap.

Why you would want a cap with the ball on fire as it rims out is anyone's guess. But, who am I to stand in the way of capitalism?

SHAQ IS NOW A MASON!

We have heard of stories of a secret organization that dates back further than any of us can think of. Organizations that can get Presidents elected, people killed to make way for the greater good....you know that sort of thing. When you hear the term Free Mason, there is a certain chill that comes with it, a secrecy that has not been matched. Well, it looks like "The Great AARP" will get another name after retirement since according to Mediatakeout.com:

Photo provided by Mediatakeout.com
MediaTakeOut.com learned that NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal is now a MASON. He was inducted into Widows Sons Lodge #78, in Boston, MASS.
Members of the lodge told MediaTakeOut.com that THEIR FORM OF MASONRY has NOTHING to do with the ILLUMINATI. And that they, unlike the Illuminati, do NOT worship the devil.

Thanks for the clarification!

Heat players partied at Liv with the Mavericks?

The Miami Heat bandwagon came to a crashing halt on Sunday night when the Dallas Mavericks closed out the series and won the NBA title. It's tough enough to watch a team celebrate on your own floor. It's even harder when some of your celebrity fans are photographed partying with the team that just beat you.

It's going to get tougher when people find out that some of your own teammates were there, too.

These are some different kinda dudes. I can't even be shocked by anything this team does anymore. They have a party to start the year then throw pity parties when they realize people suddenly want them to fail. At times they look inspired on the floor only to follow it up with periods of offensive incoherence. LeBron proclaims not to worry about what others say then takes a targeted shot at all of the people hating on him.

So maybe it shouldn't be surprising that some of the Heat players showed up at the club after the game. They're the anti-thesis of what everyone thinks they should be. I haven't figured out if it's willful defiance of their critics, a general arrogance or a naive cluelessness. And that's what now has me hooked on this team. Not as a fan or a hater, but just a curious observer. This promises to be one of the most fascinating team dynamics in sports history. The kind of thing that will make a fascinating feature if ESPN decides to do a 40-for-40.

Charles Barkley Not A Fan of the Heat

Charles Barkley has never minced words for anyone, he is now officially the most hated man in south beach. Charles went on ESPN 1000am and spoke his mind on what he thinks of the Miami Heat at this point in time. Charles is really coming off as man with a lot of hate for "The Heatles". And as Dave Chappelle Said "If you have hate in your heart let it out!"
Just listen to Chuck, because he would tell you if he was on one of his Vegas trips he would but his money on the most losing est basketball franchise in basketball history.

Episode 32: Change The Channel

On this week's edition of New Era Radio...

The guys are joined by the one and only Clipper Darrell who talks about (what else?) the Clippers and his relationship with the franchise as well as Shaq's career and who is the NBA's all-time greatest. Also...an introduction to plum brandy. Is Steve Spurrier using Jim Tressel's downfall to make a point? And which movies deserve to have a sequel.

Episode 27: Let's Go Crazy

As we rejoin our favorite NERDs...the guys break try to make some sense of the NFL Lockout (they don't) and run through the top portion of the draft. Oh and Marcas makes Cacique jealous by bragging about going to see Prince for $25.

Episode 24: One Mo' 'Gin

This week the N.E.R.D.'s have the limits of their attention tested by college basketball. KGPE-TV's George Takata stops by to eulogize the Sacramento Kings. Robert Dobucki of HoopsJournal.com helps preview the NBA playoffs. And somewhere, several people are (sorta) having sex with Miley Cyrus right now.

LeBron James scuffles with Jermaine O'Neal

Sunday's game between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat was more than just a late-season matchup between two Eastern Conference powers. The winner would be set up to avoid having to face the suddenly resurgent New York Knicks in the first round of the playoffs. So it's no surprise that emotions between the two teams were high.

They boiled over in the second quarter when LeBron James tangled with Jermaine O'Neal. While running the break, James collided with O'Neal and fired the ball at him starting a mini-brouhaha between the sides. O'Neal was charged with a Flagrant 1 while LeBron, Dwyane Wade and Paul Pierce were all hit with technicals.

LeBron finished with 27 points, seven assists and five steals as the Heat crushed the Celtics, 100-77 to grab the second seed. If everything shakes out right, these teams will meet again in the second round of the playoffs, although Boston is looking vulnerable for an upset by the Knicks. But add this in with all of the trash talk going on in the Western Conference between the Lakers, Thunder and Mavericks. Vince McMahon couldn't have created better promotion for the playoffs.

Webber Tells Heat To Grow Some Nutts!

courtesy of NBA TV

C-Webb had put it down for years in the NBA. He is no Hall Of Famer but he has the respect of many players in the league. The way he calls out Coach "Spo" is classic.
You can tell this is a direct Pep Talk to the Heat.

Allstate's Stand? It's Making Fun of LeBron James

Even though we're more than halfway through the season, people still continue to take shots at LeBron James. Then again when you set yourself up for public scorn the way James did during "The Decision", you're going to take some shots for awhile.

Now we have insurance companies jumping into the fray. Chicagoland radio stations have been playing Allstate insurance ads featuring spokesman Dennis "President David Palmer" Haysbert taking a shot at competitor State Farm via James, who is the company's pitchman.

The ad cuts deeper and deeper, adding more references along the way. Things like:

"Should you go where you get the most for your money? Or go with your hometown organization? Or maybe you should just team up with one of the best in the business."

And just in case you weren't totally sure if this was a shot at You Know Who, Haysbert hits you with...

"Are you ready to take your talents to Allstate?"

Hear the full commercial here...

I'm waiting for the television version when Mayhem rushes the floor in Miami, places his foot down for LeBron to awkwardly land on top of it, then yells "Karma!" as James writhes in pain on the hardwood.

LeBron James Is A (Ratings) MVP

There have been a lot more witnesses in Miami this year
Just in case you haven't been convinced by his 26/7/7 averages, his 51 point, 11 rebound, 8 assist game against Orlando or the lasttimethecavswon hashtag on Twitter, LeBron James is pretty good at basketball.

There's also another thing he's good at - pulling in ratings.

According to John Ourand of Sports Business Journal, the Miami Heat have seen the biggest ratings jump from last year, becoming the team with the third-highest ratings in the - a 118% increase. Love him or hate him, it seems that you've gotta watch him.

Not only did LeBron take his talents to South Beach, but he apparently took  took a lot of eyeballs with him as well. The Cleveland Cavaliers have suffered the biggest drop in ratings, taking a 53% hit. As bad as that is for the Cavs, the good news is that the Cleveland Indians aren't likely to steal a whole lot of viewers.

Ourand's report also shows that having an eye-popping breakout star isn't necessarily a key to ratings success. While Blake Griffin might be one of the most exciting one-man shows running in the NBA, the L.A. Clippers aren't seeing it translate into viewers. The Clips are the second-lowest rated team in the league (the Lakers, by comparison, have the fourth-highest ratings and top overall viewership).

Even in a town where peanut vendors are known for their showmanship, you'd think that Griffin's feats of posterization would be good enough to create some sort of spike in ratings. Then again, the Clippers can't even keep their biggest fans happy, it's probably too much to ask of them to start reaching out to potential new customers.

Lil Wayne Is Mad At LeBron James & Dwyane Wade

Would you be eager to talk to this man?
Add one more to the growing list of people pissed off at LeBron James.

This time it's recently-freed rapper Lil Wayne, who told Rolling Stone magazine that he's upset because James and Dwyane Wade, aka two of The Heatles, wouldn't say hello to him when he sat courtside at a recent Heat/Hornets game in New Orleans.
"Them n****s never speak to a n****," he says. "They don't chuck me the deuce or nothing. N**** spent all that money on them f****** tickets ... Come holla at me. We sit right by them little b****-ass n****s. At least come ask me why I'm not rooting for you."
Um...yeah. I'm sure they're eager to figure out why you're not rooting for them. It's probably the same reason that pretty much everyone outside of South Florida isn't rooting for them. I'm now eagerly awaiting the LeBron James response where he talks about his plans to go to a Lil Wayne show and tell Weezy why he'd rather listen to The Dream.
