FINALLY!! The MELOdrama is OVER!!
After days, weeks, months of having to hear about where Carmelo Anthony is going to play his post Denver Nugget ball... We have the final answer!! New York, baby! After giving up half their team, the ball boy and Spike Lee (Well maybe not Spike) The Knockerbockers aquire Melo this afternoon!
This 12 player, 3 team trade sends Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, the Knicks 2014 1st round draft pick, the Golden State Warriors 2012 AND 2013 2nd round picks (aquired by NY for David Lee last summer) and 3 Million in cash to Denver. Anthony heads to New York with Chauncy Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman and Corey Brewer. The Minnesota Timberwolves get Eddy Curry and Anthony Randolph.
We already know Melo is a native of NY. Not to mention his wife LA-LA really wanted to be in NY as well.
I think the only team in the Western Conference that is happy about this trade is the Dallas Mav's. Lets not forget the 2009 2nd round play-off series where the Nuggets knocked off the Mavericks in 5 games. Currently the Mav's are the 2nd seed in the West and were on track to play the 7th seed Nuggets if the playoff picture stays the same
Melo kept his lips sealed with his best poker face on as he skipped todays Denver Nuggets practice (with the blessing of the Nuggets organization) to be a guest on Conan this afternoon! The show was filmed prior to the announcement of the trade going public, but I am sure the deal had been set in stone prior to the filming.
Now all the Knicks need to do is find out a way to make the Deron Williams rumors come true and they'll be a contender in the East!!
